Chops Suey
The Good: The game is set in a fun teen-friendly fantasy universe populated
by hundreds of different "Folks" which range from characters, animal-like
beast and huge monsters. The gameplay is quite innovative as each time
you encounter a new "Folk" and defeat him, you have a 4 or 5 second
window in which you can shake the Sixaxis to steal it's soul (known in the
game as ids) from it's body. This allows you to use a shadow of that
character as an attack on upcoming enemies. The player is able to equip 4
ids at anytime (one for each face button).
The Bad: The game is rated Teen in North America for a reason... as the
story line and even the fight sequences feel quite kiddish in nature. Many
quests and conversations you have are quite cheesy. Being an early release
for the PS3... this game doesn't do much to show off the power of the
system.
Overall: I didn't hate this game, but I didn't really like it all that much either.
There's enough here to be worth renting. If you like what you see, it should
show up in the used or bargain racks soon enough.
