March is Halo 2 Month
With Xbox shutting down server support for all Xbox (1) games I thought it would be fitting to pay one last homage to the FPS that really revolutionized online multiplayer for me, and I’m sure many others . For the longest time Halo 2 was the online multiplayer heavyweight, only really shadowed after the next-gen consoles hit the market.
So to pay tribute to this great game, and all the enjoyment it has brought me I propose March to be Halo 2 Month!
Dust off your old consoles if you’ve got ‘em, or throw the old disk into your 360 is power it up. We’re going back in time to a multiplayer classic. Let that lead guitar riff sing to you as the title screen comes up. You’ll need to do a bit of housekeeping, as the old maps you’ve downloaded will need to be re-downloaded, so don’t go waiting until the last minute to join the fight. There’ll probably be some updates and such too. But once that is all said and done, hook up your headsets, grab your controller, and come join me in some custom games, and matchmaking to celebrate the passing of this giant.
Every Wed, and Friday for the month of March will be Halo day/night. If you see me on during the other days of the week (which I likely will be) then feel free to join me or any of the other Mercs and board members online.

PS. Just a little history: My original gamertag was set up using a 2 month xbox live trial membership. When that expired it wouldn’t let me use it again. So DetectiveBird was a randomly generated name that I chose while setting up a new Live membership when I wanted to play Halo 2 online with my buddy Kazaziel (insert a “f*ck Dave” here)
I got all of the updates and Maps downlaods done already and it took me about an hour. Make sure to give yourself some time before to get the updates and re-download the maps.
Oh I also played last night and I realized that I suck bigtime. Those kids came out of nowhere to get me. LOL
