Battle of the Demos on PSN

Battle of the Demos on PSN

Demo Battle

Battle will be based on the following
- Demo Gameplay
- Demo Graphics

Story will not be covered for this Information be sure to read our First Battle Dante V Kratos.

Dante’s Inferno Demo Gameplay

Dante’s Inferno is the standard Action title. While Dante only starts the demo with a simple Axe he soon runs into Death for which has to be the worst “Death” Battle I’ve seen for sometime. The battle isn’t too long and only consist of Dante blocking then spamming attacks to a point where Dante will Grab scythe then will enter the Quicktime event. Speaking of the Quick time the button placement will remind many of the First Two God of War Titles, which will have the Buttons Head on in the screen sometimes blocking the Player from ever seeing what’s going on. People hated this way since 2005 and it’s a shame see Dante’s Inferno taking it back. As you hit the buttons on screen Death will then begin to beg for his Life, as you impale him then proceed to cut him in Half.

From here we enter the Game, with the story unfolding before the player. Dante will acquire yet another weapon, the Cross. For which is the basic Spam attack, the Player can always use the Cross at no cost. The cross does have the feel of the old Cross within the old castlevania games. While these are the only weapons Dante will get in the Demo you do have the option to gain more moves thanks to the Ability Tree which does show some promise for some good leveling.

Dante’s Inferno Demo does include the Ridable Monster feature. At the end of the Demo Dante will come face to face with this massive beast for which you must Beat the beast to enter a Quicktime event to kill the rider and take control over the beast. Once Dante is upon the beast, they become best buds with the creature doing what ever Dante wants from the start. The Beast does have a great set of moves but it’s a shame to see that Dante doesn’t do anything to the beast to make it follow his Command.

Final we come to the standard Grunt for Dante to face, which range from small grunts that are quick and will take a good spam attack to finish to the Bigger Foe with the Horns and the blade for which upon his death you have the option to save him or Kill. Early in the Demo we see the one feature in Dante’s Inferno that is new, and this is the Whole Being Good or Being Bad. At the end of the Enemies life Dante will be given a choice of Saving the Beast or killing in a brutal manner. This is meant for the player to decide on making Dante Good to get some New Moves and Magic which aslo goes towards being Dark. While this is a Cool Feature Dante’s Inferno Demo does have one Major Flaw and this is the Spawning of the Enemies which means that the Game just likes to throw more and more at you which to me feels alot like Ninja Gaiden.

God of War 3 Demo Gameplay

Kratos within the Demo starts with Two Weapons, his Blades of Olympus and the newest weapon the Cestus. Both of which give the brutal nature that is so known within the God of War Games. The Demo will start with the standard Grunts for the palyers picking but the Demo will also consist of Two Mini-Boss Battles and the newest Feature the Rideable Creatures. The nice touch to God of War 3 is the Quicktime events for which the Buttons are mapped to the buttons on the controller meaning that when triangle appears it will be in the top of the screen which is a nice change from the first two games which had the Buttons in the Middle of the Screen. This is a Nice change which will now allow the player to watch the actions being made.

Although there is no story elements within the Demo, the one thing God of War does so well is the overall scope of the Battle. God of War 3 is set to be the biggest game in the franchise and can be summed up with one word “Epic”. Kratos has full use of both weapons but we also see the fire Bow which is meant for crowd control allowing you to light one foe on fire then watch it spread to others. But it’s main use is for the Harpy Gameplay, striking the bird and right before it attacks allowing Kratos to Grab the bird and now has full control over the Beast allowing him to get access to big gaps or even to other Harpies.

The God of War 3 demo includes the newest feature, the ridable Creatures as seen with the Harpy Kratos can also ride the Cyclops which is mainly the Tank. Although once upon the beast, he does not just become your buddy, Kratos must strike him to make him swing for each strike the Cyclops becomes weaker and weaker for which at the end we then get to pull out it’s Eye. This little feature is a great addition and will add much to the overall scope.

Although the demo does have Many strong points the same problem comes with the standard grunts. At Times they don’t want to attack while at other times they all rush Kratos causing a huge Pile up due to the Centaur’s Command. But with this minor downside God of War 3 Offers much more than the standard Action title. With a ton of new feautres such as the Battering Ram where Kratos will grab one foe then use him like a shield running into anything in his path. And Finally Kratos can now use his weapons to pull enemies towards you or pull yourself toward them, which will now lead into a huge combo but also helps if anything is not in your range.

Demo Graphic Comparison

It goes to say without Doubt that God of War 3 will be yet another Huge PS3 Game. From Everything to Story to the stunning Graphics, this is the title that will make all exclusives stand out. God of War Will shatter the Bar for the PS3, which in turn some games cannot meet.
The same Cannot be said for Dante’s Inferno Graphics Wise, Sure it’s the standard God of War Clone but the only good thing to look at are the cinematics. While the game does look cool for the Hellish Gameplay but compared to God of War the one game it Clones it falls way short.
